Matt Kern

The co-founder of Code Benders, Matt Kern, has over 12 years of technology experience. He's as seasoned as he is tall - an overshadowing 6' 7". Matt's experience ranges far and wide; from big data to mobile phones. He's worked on projects for government to internet startups and everything in between in roles varying from Systems Administrator to Project Manager. That breadth of experience has given him knowledge that cuts across typical silos and allows him to engineer and architect systems with deep understanding of the full stack. Though he cut his teeth developing in Perl, PHP, Java as well as frontend technologies like HTML, JavaScript and CSS, he finds himself enamored with the ease and elegance of Ruby and the Ruby on Rails ecosystem. In fact, he's spent the last 6 years developing internet and mobile applications in Ruby on Rails and JavaScript. A polyglot at heart, he's constantly learning new languages and technologies in search of ways to make life easier and more enjoyable for himself and his clients through technologies like Ruby on Rails—mostly an attempt at finding ways to spend ever more time roaming the mountains of Central Oregon with his family.

Michael Taus

A startup geek at heart, Michael thrives on moving interesting ideas from the whiteboard to the world. His passions include simplifying complexity, understanding business needs and building happy teams. Since 1996, Michael has been starting and managing rapid-growth technology businesses with an emphasis on Internet, Telecom, wireless and software ventures. He has participated in the founding, development, financing and management of several early-stage technology companies, including officer and board-level positions.

Les Kiger

A self-proclaimed lover of open source, Les began writing code for the web when Mosaic was a popular browser and Java was still a snazzy word for coffee. Les has written Java, PHP, and Ruby code using open source and proprietary frameworks on projects including green-field content management systems, electronic music distribution systems, custom social networks, and large code-base eCommerce solutions. He now specializes in agile, behavior-driven development with Ruby on Rails.

Piotr Solnica

When Piotr's not writing great code, he's writing awesome code. As an open source enthusiast, he has been working as a web developer for over 6 years, including more than 3 years of professional experience with Ruby-based technologies, working with many international agile teams.

Avdi Grimm

Avdi has spent well over a decade cultivating robust software systems for everything from air-traffic control RADARs to eCommerce websites. He is a notorious dispersed team facilitator, a skillful educator and an all around good guy.

Dan Kubb

A true Ruby Hero, Dan is a committed open source contributor and has been tirelessly working on one of the hardest Ruby projects around, DataMapper.

Renée De Voursney

Renée draws upon experience from a variety of projects, from high energy physics simulation to financial forecasting models, to provide key expertise for her clients in the areas of business intelligence and software development.

Evan Light

Evan is a software developer with 15 years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining commercial and enterprise applications for telecoms, government, and web startups. His work includes projects that were developed in Ruby, iOS, Java, and C.

Carlos Perez

Carlos makes form follow function in both tangible and digital media. Creative has always been a major part of his life, career, and he often mixes the two in his adopted hometown of Bend, Oregon since 2001. Having worked with major brands from Lucas Films, and Viacom International, to Harley Davidson, Northface and Nike, Carlos has an understanding of the complete brand experience while understanding that getting there takes time, and the right team to make it happen.

Trang Minh Le

Currently residing in Paris, Trang brings savoir faire to CodeBenders strategic consulting and project fu. A big fan of technology, Trang is an early adopter of various applications and gadgets. She has been leveraging technology to drive business results and improve efficiencies. For over ten years, Trang has been involved on the operations, service and project management side of business for fashion, education, high-tech and telecom startups and companies.

Rhett Anderson

Team Alumni - Rhett Anderson is currently the Director of Development at Disney's Playdom. His 30 years of programming started with him winning first, second, and fourth places with entries to a county-wide high school programming contest.
