As the level of distributed solar increases, there will be a need for PV systems to provide their host utility with much greater awareness, control and grid support functions than what is available today. PV Powered was recently selected to receive a Stage 2 award under the Solar Energy Grid Integration System (SEGIS) program by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The company is developing technology that increases energy harvest, reduces the levelized cost of energy (LCOE), and is aggressively investing in solving the critical challenges of integrating solar as a mainstream power source by partnering with industry leaders that are driving the development of the Smart Grid.

CodeBenders has designed and developed a distributed solar inverter monitoring application for PVPowered written in Ruby and utilizing components of Ruby on Rails. The monitoring application was designed to provide near real time updates and historical trending on thousands of solar inverters across the world with a plug and play device and no configuration needed by the customer. CodeBenders’ work was deeply interconnected with the design of firmware, embedded systems, and web front end interfacing with monitoring application.
